User talk:SmarterChild
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Regarding "History of Backpack Design", see Wikipedia:No original research. Of course, as a backpack engineer you may be knowledgable regarding great sources on backpack design. More importantly, the article on backpack is currently not long enough to require a seperate article devoted to their designs. Also, the titles of Wikipedia articles should use Lowercase_second_and_subsequent_words (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (capitalization)).
But don't be discouraged by Dhartung, as I see little at the top of the page that would have discouraged your nominating "History of Backpack Design" (though I agree that it is not, in practice, what the Collaboration of the Week is intended for. Spinning rims (Rims? is it a brand name?) is, I think, a more than appropriate COTW nominee) and there is a written policy against biting newcomers. Hyacinth 00:28, 23 Feb 2005 (UTC)
