Talk:Wiccan Order
Please provide some kind of reference for this. —Ashley Y 21:52, 2004 Aug 28 (UTC)
- In this page you can see that Gardner was the leader of the Wiccan order, when they say:
- But Gardner had no time to spare for the O.T.O., due to his leadership of the Wiccan order (under which title he had organised his synthetic modern revival of witchcraft). [79]
- The tag "[79]" points to "Facsimile of this Charter in Geoffrey Basil Smith: "Knights of the Solar Cross", 1983. Born on 19.1.47, Smith considers himself to be the X° of Great Britain. After 1988, this Charter was owned by Allen H. Greenfield, bishop of Bertiaux's O.T.O.A, and in the 'Caliphate'. There is a report on this charter in "LAShtAL" Nº 1, Georgia 1988, p. 41."
- Koenig just means Wicca here, doesn't he? —Ashley Y 07:40, 2004 Sep 7 (UTC)
- I don't think so, but I guess we can try to contact him... But why think that he typo'd? Isn't it easilly assumed that "Wiccan order" was what he really meant?
- I've contacted him and he really means "Wiccan Order".
There was no such thing as the 'Wiccan Order'. Gardner never referred to Wicca as an Order. He terms it a 'cult' - for that matter, he does not ever refer to his own movement as 'Wicca'. I suggest contacting the likes of Philip Heselton, author of Gerald Gardner and the Cauldron of Inspiration and Wiccan Roots, or Professor Ron Hutton, if clarification is needed.Cavalorn 11:39, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Merge and Redirect
[edit]I suggest that this information should be merged to Gerald Gardner, and this page made a redirect to his page. I don't see that there is any way for this page to stand on it's own, unless and until a dozen or so members of the Order come out of the closet and claim it. --Bill W. I have merged this info into [{Gerald Gardner]] and am redirecting this page there. --Bill W. Smith, Jr. 20:37, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
