[edit]Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ecsu warriors.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Ecsu warriors.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 11:13, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hey, there! Thanks for getting in touch with me to inquire about the cleanup tag I placed on Eastern Connecticut State University. I suppose the sentence that sparked the "seems non-pov" comment (I meant non-npov, as you correctly surmised, haha) was particularly the "Situated 30 minutes from Hartford, Eastern lies midway between New York City and Boston." Unless it geographically sits exactly between the two cities, which might make it geographically noteworthy, to say that is really just a way of promoting the school by way of its location. Even to say that it's a certain distance from Hartford is non-notable and more advert language -- the actual location is more relevant unless you're trying to triangulate the specific location for those who might not know quite where the university is. I didn't think it was enough for an advert tag (many other school articles are deserving of one!) but I was mostly concerned about the standardization, as you also seem to have guessed correctly. If you haven't already, consult WP:UNIGUIDE to see what is "standard" format for university articles. (The only bits about the WikiProject I tend not to agree with are the use of rankings in articles at all, which are widely held to be more about good advertising for certain schools -- about a quarter of the ranking is subjective prestige-based, and even the Annapolis Group of generally well-ranked colleges has unsuccessfully recommended that its members not submit information to organizations like USNews.) I'll try to find some time to check in and offer assistance. Happy editing! --Aepoutre (talk) 17:57, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Edit-a-thon invite
[edit]Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons
[edit]Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England | |

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. The events are as follows:
We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time. If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list. |
