Thanks for adding SHODAN's picture to the article! I would've back when I made the thing, but couldn't find a suitable one, and wouldn't have known a thing about how to insert it or about copyright issues anyway. I suck. -- Kizor 19:21, 26 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Debate about deleting an image
[edit]Hi. I wanted to let you know about a debate at here about possibly deleting Image:Nevada-Tan.jpg. The questions concern copyright and privacy. Maurreen 06:31, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm well aware of that. --Paul Soth 17:19, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Another image deletion thing
[edit]Greetings. Back in March, you uploaded Image:Shodan.jpg. It's currently not being used, it doesn't have any copyright info, and although it's a nice image, it doesn't seem useful to illustrate an article. I've listed it on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion -- no offense meant. If you think it should be kept, leave a note there. Thanks, – Quadell (talk) (help) 21:39, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)
- Update: based on the comment above, I figured out that Image:Shodan.jpg is just another version of Image:SHODAN hires.jpg. I think the latter is better, so the former should (in my opinion) be deleted. – Quadell (talk) (help) 21:42, Jan 21, 2005 (UTC)
4chan?
[edit]I've recently noticed a poster at 4chan's main webpage going by the name of Paul Soth. I don't suppose you are he? Just curious. CABAL 18:35, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, that would be me. There isn't anyone else who shares my name. --Paul Soth 19:21, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Warhammer40k-Tau
[edit]NPOV'ing all the way, for anything in Warhammer40k. I'm working on my own "Justice Project" for the Warhammer/40k articles that have some ugly things in there. E.g. "Skaven are an evil fantasy race..." I'm leaving as many suggestions on this as possible as many places as possible. Colonel Marksman 18:49, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Extra notes
[edit]Notice that almost all the Warhammer/40k articles discuss next to nothing about any actual gameplay? This IS a tabletop game.
Of course, it's necessary to keep things simple, but a nice "==Strategies Using...==" would be nice, a little something more about the actual game. Colonel Marksman 18:49, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah. A lot of the 40k articles focus more on fluff then real world details, which we really need more of. Publishing history, developer notes, gameplay overviews, etc. That, and the bits on fluff just go into speculative details and debate that really just don't belong here. Christ, just look at the Imperium page:
- "The Imperium is xenophobic and oppressive, which tend to be bad things."
- "Yeah, but it's the only way they can survive, so it's okay!"
- Or some of the crap on the Tau discussions:
- "The Tau's politics tend to be left-leaning, which makes them communists, which it turn means they're bad and evil. So there."
- You can see what I'm getting at here. Anyway, count me in on the cleanup project. Anything to end these inane debates, at the least. --Paul Soth 09:32, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- ROFL!!! Say, are you part of the Wikiproject for Warhammer40k? I'd love to be in there and part of this (I have $3,000 worth of books/rules/fluff sitting here unused. Some of it is old, but it's there. I've also been a player for 4 years (hundreds of battles) and have beaten Dark Eldar with Tau. Not only that, Gun Drones whooped the Dark Eldar butt in close combat!
Actually, just as a personal note that doesn't relate to anything: Tau are amazingly ok at close combat (especially their battlesuits) and here's why: They count as jump infantry (and with many weapons, you can fire salvos into the enemy AND charge them), and though their skills might not be the greatest, their saves are superior to most. My Tau refuse to give up easily in close combat. In fact, when close combat begins is the turn of the tide for my Tau. You play too? Oh, and you can leave some conversation on my page. Ohayocon
[edit]Give the guy till the end of the week to provide some reliable sources for the alleged curse. If, however, he is unable or unwilling to do so in that time, then the section should be deleted. --TheFarix (Talk) 15:14, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- As a member of the Ohayocon staff, I can tell you it's a load of crap. I didn't know Jeff that well myself, but his death is not something the staff has taken lightly. We did have a staff meltdown over a year ago, and it may be one of the former staffers. Who knows. --Paul Soth 20:58, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Since you are a member of the Ohayocon staff, you probably should reframe editing the article to avoid a conflict of interest unless it is to correct minor facts. You may want to read WP:AUTO. Although it talks about autobiographies on Wikipedia, it also applies to any potential conflict of interest that may arise with an article. --TheFarix (Talk) 22:56, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
About the modification of the "otaku" page
[edit]Hi. I wanna clarify something as to your foul comment "Holy crap!" after my contribution to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otaku. You have deleted my work TWICE. I don't know your intention of it, and I don't believe that you are targeting at me as a prank. Please give a detailed account for your act of deletion which is recorded in the history page, otherwise I will take appropiate action to let the webmasters of wikipedia deem it seriously! Hkcbgcs 14:29, 26 Aug 2006 (UTC)
- Beacuse it was rambling, disjointed, used unecyopedic wording, ugly, and full of original research. That's why I reverted it. --Paul Soth 16:06, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Image tagging for Image:Theboss.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Theboss.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:BOSS.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:BOSS.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Non-free use disputed for Image:Watsuki.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Watsuki.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 09:27, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Adeptmechsymbol.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Adeptmechsymbol.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use rationale for Image:Asamiya.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Asamiya.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 09:19, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Paul Soth! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 714 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Fair use rationale for File:Kodt100.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Kodt100.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 17:17, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Ostans.jpg
[edit]Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 03:08, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
