You are well offside in english grammar. The piece obviously needs a diagram to spare the poor reader from the injurious literacy. Domskitect (talk) 18:49, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
This needs the info for league. I don't think it's different enough to warrant its own article. Sorry if I'm wrong. Bagpuss
I'd have to say you are.
- Thanks for that. Bagpuss
Do you think it would be useful to describe a bit more about offside? For example, the defending side offside at rucks and mauls, etc.? Also, your comment about being offside if infront of the ball kicker is true only if the players are attempting to play the ball. the kicker (typically the full back) can put them onside by becomming the furthest forward attacking player (i.e. chasing his own kick) at which time they all become onside. This might be too much for an intro to offside though. Casualobserver 14:41, 7 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Intro line
[edit]This article should have an intro line briefly describing the purpose of offside in rugby football, history of the rule, or whatever, before moving in to sections (as per MOS). I don't know much about the rule, so if there are any rugby rule gurus out there here is your chance to shine :-) --Daveb 07:19, 11 May 2005 (UTC)
throwing the ball sideways
[edit]Is the offside rule the rule that requires rugby players to throw the ball sideways? Or is that a separate rule or modified offide rule? If so, this should be made clear in the article. The first thing that people notice about rugby is that you can't just throw the ball forward to a team mate - so it should be explained if this is or isn't the offide rule.
