Did the Citroen family use the diacritic or not? --SFoskett 12:59, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)

That I am actually not sure of, but using an educated guess I would say no. --AyrtonSenna 18:02; May 5, 2005 (EST)

'Citroen' means lemon in Dutch, whereas 'Citroën' doesn't have a meaning. Since it's a Dutch family, I guess they didn't use the diacritic. --21:33, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

One of André's grandfathers was a market merchant selling lemons, he was called "limoenman" (lemmonman) and later took the name Citroen, another Dutch word for 'limoen'. Even today, the telephone directory lists several people named Citroen in Amsterdam. 217.121.157.116 19:18, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately the above is only correct by approximation. I have corrected the story within the article, also explaining the history of the trema. 77.167.212.162 (talk) 22:30, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mothers name

[edit]

There is some confusion about the mothers name. She is sometimes referred to as Masza Amelia Kleinman (confirmed by many sources) but also as Macha Kleinan (also confirmed by many sources). In the Polish Wikipedia she is named Masza Amelia Kleinman. I have no idea what is correct. 77.167.212.162 (talk) 22:30, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Life and carrer - Name

[edit]

The "diaeresis" was not added "upon arrival" in Paris, when André was not even born, and not by a teacher of his, but by a school secretary (clerk) when he was registered at Lycée Condorcet, a well-renowned high school in Paris; also writes Jacques Wolgensinger in his biography of André Citroën. --Gallograph (talk) 17:31, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
