Hello Steve, if you have time, could you check my translation of what Pierre Bourdieu says about cultural capital (the part which is in both French and English)?? Thanks!! Saintswithin 11:31, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)

oh and btw...

Thnks Steve - there was no rush! Saintswithin 09:38, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Nice save there. LOL. Yeah...I was making redirects as I was spell-checking the article. Damon Harris is a cool guy; he's The Temptations' falsetto on "Papa Was a Rolling Stone". --FuriousFreddy 17:45, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

LOL. It's cool. It's good to see fellow Wikipedians dedicated to helping combat vandalism. I'm constantly moniotring my wacthlist; the Michael Jackson and hip hop music articles in particular get hit far too many times a day. --FuriousFreddy 18:09, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Palmstruch

[edit]

Good work on the Palmstruchiana! / Uppland 17:42, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I suppose Swedish isn't that difficult when you know some related languages and have some idea of the topic. I guess it is like for me reading Dutch. I don't know about the Swedish Wikipedia, as I don't really write there anymore, and don't really believe in the future of it either – too many silly conflicts and too few people producing too many unreferenced two-line substubs. / Uppland 20:29, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Looks good to me. Thanks! Radiant_* 12:38, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations

Congratulations on your translation skills and thanks for your work on Antoni Grabowski! --Sopiro 13:03, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC) (who is guilty of the german translation)

I feel humbled, Thanks !

[edit]

Dear User:SteveW, I feel humbled, as also happy, and I thank you for the Barnstar for African cuisine. Have I done anything to deserve any such recognition? We all are on the same Wiki-boat, with the same faith, with the same determination, with the same aim - to continue to contribute to make the Wikipedia “the sum total of human knowledge”. Thanks again.--Bhadani 01:27, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Just a reminder that when you removed Slovenia parliamentary elections, 2004 from the list of pages needing translation, you didn't add it to the "completed" list (which I've now done). -- Jmabel | Talk 05:29, May 1, 2005 (UTC)

  • Actually that's a duplication - Replied on User talk:Jmabel
    • Glad to see you are on top of it. I don't know any trick for finding those. When I make those changes, I usually put in an edit summary that indicates that what I did related to the completion of a translation, but other people often don't. -- Jmabel | Talk 17:02, May 1, 2005 (UTC)
    • BTW, I add the details to the talk page only if I think that there is something non-trivial there (discussion of issues about translation or about the original article). It doesn't seem to be of much use just to report who requested a translation and the fact that it was done (the latter usually being pretty clear from the page history and, hopefully, the references). -- Jmabel | Talk 17:55, May 1, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks

[edit]

Hey Steve. Nice to see you noticed my work, especially since translation seems to be your field of expertise. These translations were more of an experiment (never done it before). I'm a native French speaker, my problem lies in finding the right words in English, which is much harder. Phils 08:50, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've created a LGBT noticeboard for wikipedians to post issues and concerns. Please take a look. Thanks. -- Samuel Wantman 07:48, 8 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Translation

[edit]

Hello Steve, thanks for pointing that out. I've actually been writing "translation from German version" in the edit summary box whenever I first translate an article, starting a new page, as a) that tells people the date anyway, and b) it seems silly to write it on the page itself when the article might actually be changed a lot from the translation over time. But I'll do it the semi-official way in future! Saintswithin 12:33, 9 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

the palestinian national anthem

[edit]

please check the discussion page of that article ,i consider the info you added "incorrect" although is included in several pages on the web , i wish we could get some "official" page , preferably in arabic so that the ambiguis names "mawtini" and "biladi" which both mean home land or country are clearly distinguished , and thats more possible in an arabic source.--Mayz 20:33, 16 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Info needed on Cleanup-Taskforce

[edit]

Hi Steve, in the German wing of WP there is a big discussion going on. The deleting process and the quality management in general are the problems. Now I have seen the Cleanup-Taskforce in the English wing of WP, something I want to adapt or implement in the German quality management. It would be nice if you can give me more detailed informations to bring mor quality into the quality discussion. Thanks a lot. --Grabert 06:40, 12 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

An article has been added to your desk about a location in Paris France (because your interests include both France and French). I don't know if you are familiar with Paris. Please accept or decline the article. Thank you, RJFJR 16:04, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
