[edit]First of all, I'm from Canada, I have never been in Africa and I have no interrest of any kind relative to this guy. I'm not even black. But I think this article is written in a shocking disrespect for truth and the reader's intelligence.
So, he spent on a visit to the UN the amount of 130,000 pounds. He's the president of a country, he's accompagnied by lots of people. Also, he must show respect for the country he represents, he cannot go to a hostel. BTW, how much money spends Obama and his staff if they go abroad for a similar visit? When the president of the USA visits another country even the air traffic is halted there.
You say that he spent 400 pounds on two bottles of champaigne. I would bet that that day he had a high profile guest and was his obligation to treat him accordingly. But you keep silent about that.
He spent 160,000 pounds while the British only sent 106,000 in humanitarian aids to Congo. How pitiful! I'm talking about the British aid. It's 106,000 pounds for a countru with 70,000,0000 habitants. Doing any math here wou be ridiculous, we can estimate pretty accurately that each congolese received exactly 0 (zero) pounds. How generous! (BTW, if I would be a British, I would hide that.)
Quote: "...in August 2006 alone, Denis Christel, who is the head of Cotrade - the marketing branch of Congo's state oil firm SNPC - spent $35,000 on purchases from designers such as Louis Vuitton and Roberto Ca."
I love that "alone". In fact the guy spent his vacation abroad and spent $35,000. That "alone" was an one time shopping spree but you try hard to suggest (without any evidence!) that that would be his daily norm. Do you find that an one time spending of $35,000 during a vacation is excessive for the head of a large oil company? How much are paid the CEO's of the biggest British oil companies? Oh yeah, that guy was his son. Do you want a more detailed talk about what a term like "networking" means in Western society?
Frankly, I would like to see this page rewritten by a non-British person.Srelu (talk) 22:59, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
