Why was the word Propaganda in the meetings section?
[edit]Hello, I have a possibly serious issue with this page. I think the word Propaganda might be a bit too intense and I am going to replace it with a countries claims instead. --Cass
Ireland\Norway
[edit]Ireland voted in today. Norway as well, I think. Hanoi Road (talk) 20:55, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello members of Wikipedia, I want to add a new non permeanent member of the United Nations security council. This member is Ireland. Here are my sources: https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-europe-53085335 and https://www.rte.ie/amp/1147864/ as Ireland has won a two-year term on the council. Please credit me if the edit I'd made. Thanks, Olivier Davaoet (talk) 17:58, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
I would also like to add Norway. Thanks, Olivier Davaoet (talk) 17:59, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
- Not done You need to specify explicitly the text you want to add and where to add it. Presently, I don't see anywhere in the article where future members taking their places in 2021 are listed. DrKay (talk) 19:10, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
I don't understand? Please explain to me. Thanks, Olivier Davaoet (talk) 19:34, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
- Where in the article do you want to list the members taking their seats in 2021? DrKay (talk) 19:47, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Elected non-permanent members
[edit]RedBulbBlueBlood9911, I don't get your revert and edit summary explanation. These countries are elected and annouced by UNSC and my edit was a sourced content, that too RS and table was very appropriately added with years and status. In your edit summary here, you've written "update should be on 1 Jan 2021", why is that? Please explain. Thank you. Drat8sub (talk) 00:20, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
- Drat8sub, the update should be on Jan 1 because all the newly elected countries will take charge only from that day. Until then, all the current countries will be running the council. RedBulbBlueBlood9911Talk 04:38, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
- Why should it be updated on 1 January? This is not how wikipedia articles are written. If such a case then half of sport articles will be deleted since tournament are always announced years before or any election article as when someone gets elected, they takes charges many days later. This is an encyclopedia, not giving power to any countries, that you've written...from Jan 1 they are taking charge, here history is accounted, and a history is created by electing those countries and it should be mentioned, does not matter when they will take charge. Listing of new non-P members
[edit]Every users including Brobt, if you are visiting talk pages before requesting or editing at the article to include names in the infobox, then let me tell you all, the infobox is for present scenario. Every year there are 10 members and different members each year. For 2020, the infobox is properly updated with the 10 members. The mention of Kenya, India, Ireland and Norway will be updated for the year 2021 in 2021. However, as these four countries are elected, their election history is appropriately mentioned in the sub-section "Non permanent members". Hope, this clarifies all queries regarding update. And if you want to make any further request of updating regarding this topic, as DrKay reiterated, you need to mention "the text you want to add and where to add it". Thank you. Criticism and evaluations
[edit]The main article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_the_United_Nations , is better maintained than this stub, but I attempted to clean up some sources and add clarity to the last paragraph. This journal source https://doi.org/10.1146%2Fannurev-polisci-050317-071031 largely references other journals or sources of information (for example a reference now added, was to https://doi.org/10.1086%2F507155).
Attempted to bring up this exposure to the articles themselves instead of this grouping/secondary sourcing article. Also added definition on some statistics that were present in the article itself but omitted when referenced by the Wikipedia author.
Graphic's image, caption, and description all contradict one another
[edit]The graphic showing the political orientations of UNSC member states' heads of government (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council#/media/File:United_Nations_Security_Council_by_political_international.svg) is messed up. The caption mentions only dark red, red, yellow, blue, and gray. However, the graphic's description shows dark red (2), medium red (1), light red (1), peach (1), yellow (2), blue (3), and gray (5). The actual graphic is different from both of those, for example showing a magenta and only 1 yellow. (I'm using my best judgement in describing the colors.) I recommend that the graphic be removed if it can't be salvaged. 141.149.52.248 (talk) 141.149.52.248 (talk) 01:28, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- I’m removing it now because of how misleading it is. It can be added back if and when it’s fixed. Brainiac242 (talk) 19:23, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
I would like to introduce a short paragraph about the non-permanent seat of Switzerland in the Security Council
[edit]The text and sources are based on a text published by the Swiss Federal government. It is not a new topic. I don't know why I need to obtain permission to do this. The text is valid, and I see no reason why the text is deleted. I have been editing wikipedia for over 10 years. I am myself a Swiss citizen. 31.10.147.97 (talk) 19:14, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Do you have sources that are not from the Swiss government? Wikipedia articles are primarily intended to summarize independent reliable sources.
- It's not about permission per se, but achieving a consensus as to what an article should say. 331dot (talk) 19:17, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
