Signature

Hi. I understand your comment about signing articles... I think. If the system retains a history of who edited a page I see no reason to sign the page. Therefore I don't understand when one would ever use the 4 tildas. Can you explain why someone would want to use 4 tildas ? Thanks, Paul

When writing articles, the article stands alone as a source of information and requires no signature with tildes. When writing discussion on an article, such as the talk page of an article or a user talk page like this one, the signature is used to keep track of the thread of discussion by helping to note the end of one person's comments.
